The whole family liked the food, but I think they are a bit pricey!

This place is great. Awesome bowl of lobster bisque and a great little turkey Reuben for 7 bucks. I'm so happy I looked up this place out in this neck of the woods.

Nautical deli is the best sandwich and soup place on the east side for sure! Maybe even in the southwest metro Detroit area! The staff is friendly and helpful. The selection of soups can fit any craving, they are all homemade, fresh, and delicious!!! The sandwiches range from classic deli sandwiches to unique creations that again can meet any craving! All ingredients are fresh, everything prepared daily, taste and flavor are out of this world! If you're looking for a good sandwich and/or soup, this is definitely worth the drive if you aren't from the east side!!

I'm always looking for a new place to take my mother to for lunch. This turned out to be a great choice. The menu is pure deli with everything from the common egg salad to the uncommon and haute, if you can use that word with Deli. Classically when you ask for a to-go bag they wrap up that other half of your sandwich in wax paper and put it into a paper bag. There's just something so oddly comforting about that. It's like your mother just packed your lunch. Anyway, back to my own mother, she goes for the more traditional BLT and I tend to go for something like a Caprese so we were both very happy with this choice. While you are eating you'll find yourself floating away in the murals. You'll see what I mean when you get there.

This place is legit! The sandwiches are made well with fresh ingredients and different styles. They have everything, ranging from Cuban to Caprese to Chicken Pesto. All sandwiches come with a bag of potato chips and a pickle spear. You also can choose your own bread (rye, wheat, baguette, sourdough, ciabatta, etc.). They also have soups and salads that are good. You can do a pick-two option (like Panera Bread) where you get half a sandwich and a soup/salad. Pretty nice and a good price. If you haven't, you must check this place out.

Nautical Deli is the best sandwich shop on the east side. I've always had prompt and courteous service, along with top quality food that is accurate and quick. I highly recommend Nautical Deli to anyone in the area. Their soups are fantastic as well!

Best place in St. Clair Shores to grab a quick bite. Very large selection, extremely fast service, and a great atmosphere -- especially considering its location on the the Nautical Mile.

Excellent service and fresh ingredients. Whether getting it to go or dining in I always enjoy my meal. The Eggplant Parmesan sandwich is a particular favorite but I have never tried anything I didn't like.

Just to start the food at this place is amazing! I had the nautical cordon blew. It was delicious, food was hot and tasty. I'd recommend the lace to everyone. Service was amazing and price points were good. With a robust menu and great service! This place is amazing go try it!

Always busy. Good Sandwiches. Friendly service. Decor is fitting. Closed on Mondays, but if memory serves me correctly, they own Golden Chopstick as well. Monday shut downs.

I can only give my perspective of the carry-out, which was very simple and my order was accurate. Having ordered the Southwest turkey on wheat, I must say it was delicious. I know some recommendations complained of prices, but compared to some other delis, the sandwich I had was better than average; you must pay for quality. I was impressed with the chipolte sauce, however there was no heat; it was still really good. A lover of black olives and roasted red peppers, this sandwich definitely makes me curious about the other offerings and desserts. Will be returning.

The food is delicious but a bit pricey. I always order lunch here, the fries are sometimes not that fresh as they could be though. But overall an awesome place to stop by and get lunch

Great sandwiches & delicious soups. Very large selection of both, which is nice. I've tried several varieties of sandwiches and soups and have loved them all. Quality breads, and fresh ingredients.

Having such good reviews, I thought it would be a lot better. Just average. Nothing special here.

Always a great choice! The other comments mention the prices are a little high...but thats because you pay for what you get. Everything is fresh and filled. Sandwiches are good size and soups are filled with ingredients. Plus you get a bag of chips and a pickle on the side. They also have a combo menu which is great. Lots of sandwiches, salads, soups, drinks and desserts to choose from. Service is always friendly and the place is always clean. Everyone I have brought here loves it.

Obsessed with their Reuben egg rolls. Great soups and sandwiches. I also love their decorated sugar cookies.

Went at lunch- place was busy, but the staff rocks and gets you served rather quickly. There are maybe 12-15 different soups. Sandwiches are made to order. We had french dips and a turkey panini- both were very good. Fresh ingredients used and servings are generous.

Great food. Fresh soups, outstanding deli sandwiches with some interesting creations. The hot turkey and beef sandwiches are top notch. A really good place to eat. Rare for the East Side.

I always tell myself I'll come here some time and try something different but it never happens. Whenever I end up here it's because I'm craving their Grosse Pointer-- a lemon-y dill chicken salad sandwich on foccacia. Whoever said the Pick 2 half portions are too small was not ordering this! The "half" Grosse Pointer is enough to fill you up, but I always end up getting the lobster bisque with it, AND they give you chips and a pickle. Awesome. Add a drink and you're paying $10 for lunch though, which is why I docked a star. For a counter-style serving experience at a sandwich shop, it's not a great value, but the food is always reliably good. Their curly fries are really good too.

This is my husbands and my go to place for sandwiches! Always great quality. His favorite is the eggplant portobello, I've loved everything I've tried. Great soups too!

Good selection of veggie sandwiches, friendly service. At lunch time, it's impossible to get in the parking lot.

  • Chris B.

Pastrami Sandwich was disappointing. Pastrami was cut too thick and was too chewy. Bread was sub-par. Guido was OK. The french bread could have made the sandwich excellent, but was only average. The ingredients were definitely better in Guido than the Pastrami.

This Deli is simply the greatest in the city of Detroit. Especially for people looking for a variety of options and taste that will AMAZE. MUST GET: Eggplant Portobello Sandwich. Trust me. Usually I stray from rabbit food, however this sandwhich rocked my meat eating foundation. Lightly breaded eggplant, fresh portobello, basil pesto sauce, soft mozzarella...man don't miss out on this sandwich experience! PLUS every meal comes with a delish pickle and chips. All for $7! ALSO ask for curly fries. Each fried curl accentuates each bite of the sandwich. I drop by this Deli at least every week!

I've always known about this deli, but went into it for the first time 3 weeks ago. I've gone there twice since and got a different sandwich both times, and so far it's two for two! Delicious food, good service, and reasonably priced :)

Great soup and sandwiches. Love the veggie hummus sandwich. Ingredients are always fresh. And the staff is always very friendly.

  • Erica M.

The soups and sandwiches are all delicious and the ingredients are fresh. Above all they are consistent. I have never had a bad experience there. I moved away from the area long ago, and still make the drive occasionally for a sandwich from Nautical D. My usual is the garden deluxe on wheat. Vegetarians and carnivores alike can appreciate this hearty sandwich. The bread is fresh, it's LOADED with colorful veggies and the dill sauce they put on it is THE BEST! A good quality deli is hard to find. The prices are steep, but in this case, you get what you pay for.

Great atmosphere, decor and food. Vegetarian and Vegan menu options which is great to see in this area. I love this place. Tried the new Veggie Hummus. Good price at $6 (plus chips and pickle) YUM my new fav.

Ate here for the first time a few days ago and had the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich and a cup of Wisconsin Cheese Soup with a fresh roll for $12.95. It is a bit pricey but my dad had been here before and knew the sandwiches were massive so we split it. It was FANTASTIC!!!! The soup appeared to not be house made and I didn't care for it all that much but they had 12 different soup options so when I go back I will just try something different. I loved the place and will totally go back!!!

This is my go-to place when I want to treat myself to a solo meal. I've been here several times and have never had a bad experience. It's always clean and the staff is friendly. I try to go at odd hours to avoid the lunch and dinner rush, and so I have hope of finding a parking spot. I usually get the Cuban sandwich which is on the 'new' menu (hoping they keep it permanently!) Or the Reuben. I often think about trying something else, but the craving for one of those two sandwiches once I get to ordering is too strong!

When it comes to grabbing a good, quick lunch, Nautical Deli is about as good as it gets. GREAT soups, good sandwiches, good variety--I'm always sure to stop by when I'm around the St. Clair area. A few notes: --if you get the 1/2 sandwich/soup combo, beware that the 1/2 sandwich is TINY!! If you are in the sandwich mood, you are better off getting a full. The little slice of the "guido" that I got was, however, delicious! --That said, you MUST get the soup here!!! I've had the Chicken Tortialla and the Butternut Squash. The Butternut Squash that I had this past visit was absolutely INCREDIBLE!

A friend brought this place to my attention a few years ago, and it has become one of those places where once you've even THOUGHT about going you really have to get in your car and GO. The tofu sandwich is amazing, and I've never been able to duplicate it at home. I'm also a fan of the cream of asparagus soup. They get pretty busy during lunchtime, but are usually fast with my carry-out order. My workplace has used them to cater an in-service (for 100+ people) and they were fantastic and well received (that's saying a lot, my coworkers are notoriously picky about in-service food!)

Great Deli our regular stop back from Downtown also stop by every Friday after work to take home some soup (all good) and sandwiches...too many favorites to list! Owner & staff very friendly.

Large, fresh, delicious classic and new sandwiches of all types. Large selection of soups, sandwiches, great meals, always friendly. Great deal.

  • Ed C.

I don't get it...decent selection, ok service for a sandwich counter, the two or three soups I had were not great and questionably homemade...seems to cater to an older crowd with bland food and high prices for the quality delivered.

Saint Clair Shores is a city that lacks in delis that sell a wide variety of sandwiches and soups at affordable prices. Most of the establishments we can visit locally are party and grocery stores that have premade imported sandwiches on their shelves. I saw that Nautical Deli was listed consistently at 5 stars and was within 2 miles of my house so I had to check out all the hype. I think the best way I can describe Nautical is if you have been to many delis who offer similar sandwiches you're going to think Nautical is mediocre. They have a nice menu, some rotating soups, and friendly service. I just didn't think the sandwich I had (Guido) had anything that really set itself apart. Needless to say, I feel this place is superior to some of the crappy dive restaurants/party stores/grocery stores when you're looking for a sandwich if you're in the area but it's definitely not worth driving across town to try out.

Best place for soup and sandwiches in SCS! We've been going there since we moved to this side of town 9 years ago. Great service, fast, clean, and always great food! My favorite soup is the chicken tortilla. Kids love eating there too, they have really good grilled cheese and PB&J. They also have homemade cookies...yum!

I've been here a couple of time for lunch. The food is outstanding. I love their sandwiches. The only downside is the price. It's a little too expensive to frequent. I went in there the other day for lunch. I got a soup and a sandwich and the bill was $9. Yikes. BUT, they included a teeny tiny bag of chips and an itty bitty pickle. I love pickles, but even the pickle didn't make it worth $9. Nonetheless, I will return when I feel I deserve to splurge on a delicious lunch.

I no longer live on that side of town but when I'm around I make it a point to stop at Nautical Deli and grab a sandwich. Best deli around as far as I'm concerned. I typically get the turkey sandwich but have experimented with the pepper steak and a few others, all of which were delicious. Meals come with a pickle and a bag of chips.

Nautical Deli is one of my favorite lunch spots. It's very clean, not too long of a wait, and a great variety to choose from. My favorite is the Eggplant Portobella sandwiches which i order every time. So tasty! Breaded eggplant, portabella mushroom, roasted red pepper, red onion, and fresh mozzarella on grilled panini. I've got a rather large appetite & this sandwich is a very generous portion. I always leave happy. Their soups are so yummy & so many to choose from. I usually stick with my usuals....lobster bisque, tomato basil, or corn chowder. The only bad thing i have to comment on, is that they are closed on Monday's. If you like a good soup & sandwich, try this place any other day of the week.

So, I have to admit cribbing this text from my review on Urban Spoon (iPhone, anyone?), but I thought it might be useful: Whenever we visit Eastpointe, we have a lunch at the Nautical Deli. Their sandwiches, soup and sweets are excellent. Today it was 10 degrees out, and I had onion soup and an pastrami sandwich to warm me up. The croutons in the soup were too soggy, but the pastrami sandwich was just right--not one of those monster sandwiches that you can't eat, but certainly filling. I rounded it all off with a 'blondie,' something like a giant chocolate-chip brownie. Yum! The owners are friendly. The surroundings are clean. The menu is large.

Overpriced crap food. They cater to the Grosse Pointers, in the SCS. That's stupid. Get outta here with that crapola.

Edit... There is WI-FI now :) If you want a Warm sandwhich at a family owned and operated place go here! my friends always get a steak and cheese or chicken club...but i love their fish and chips...the breading has flavor and the fish is pretty fresh for a "deli" plus its a really nice place with a mural painting for the st. clair shorline in the back.

I was shocked -- SHOCKED -- to find a vegetarian (maybe vegan? I ordered without cheese or the 1000 island) tofu sandwich here. Seriously. When I visit my parents I resign myself to having The Horrifying Amounts of Fish Sailing Weekend ... or just eating kettle chips on the boat. But we stopped here and hey, there it is on the menu! I had it a few times awhile ago, and it's possible it's more flavorful with cheese, but I had to throw some hot sauce on for some flavor while we were out sailing. But that it is THERE! It's great! And the tofu is actually pretty well made -- I wouldn't think a random deli (well, not that random, I've been going to various delis in this space since I was born) would get it right, texture-wise. I feel it might need a marinating, though. Soy and ginger? Hot sesame oil? Something. I know I ordered it without the advised accotrements, though, so that's my deal. Anyway, this place has just about anything you'd like in a deli, especially for me, plus my parents absolutely love it. Thanks for the tofu! I'd like to add: I know a lot of people have a texture issue with tofu. I don't, but this was fried and maybe breaded, and was really, really good. I think even my mom, Hater of Tofu, likes it. So, you know, good on you guys.

There is not a better lunch spot in the area that beats the Nautical deli. Handsdown the best soup in the entire world, not only do they have a good selection of soups that they offer everyday, but daily specials as well. Don't miss the zesty tomato basil on tuesdays and fridays, or the lobster bisque on Sundays. Don't even get me started on the sandwhiches, they have something for everyone, the classic ham sandwhich, a reuban, plenty of vegetarian choices as well, they even offer a pb&j. And no meal is complete without one of their delicious sugar cookies that are seasonally decorated! The people there are friendly and service is great, I've yet to have a bad meal there!

I work just down the street from The Nautical Deli. I try to go there about once a week. I am not a vegetarian but I LOVE the eggplant and portabello sandwich w/fresh mozzerella and roasted red bell peppers. My goal now is to try every sandwich on the menu eventually. I've had their Italian Wedding soup - YUM! Fast, friendly service. Very good food. As one reviewer pointed out - the parking situation is a rough one, but worth the maneuvering.

I am an incredible fan after only 1 visit! Loads to choose from for us veggies and even some vegan selections--even soup! Freshly made, fast friendly service, and delicious sides. I had the tofu sandwich and it was simply amazing! Husband had the reuben and he pronounced it very good. The prices are really good, too. I appreciate the freshly -brewed green iced tea, too; many restaurants serve the instant which is simply horrible. I had a lemon bar (shared with hubby) because I wanted something really light and it didn't disappoint. Will have to try one of those delish looking brownies when I have a chocolate attack. I love the decor and feel of this place, it is spacious--tables and chairs and eating counters galore, so you're not on top of someone when you're eating--with a slight Asian flair--very relaxing. I like the vibrating pagers, cause you can go and get your fountain beverage and cop a squat for a bit before your meal is ready. Reid M, they now have Wi-Fi, as there were a few folks there on their laptops when I went in today, so go in with your laptop and enjoy! Clean spacious and disabled-friendly restroom, but there is only 1 ladies (can't speak for the men's) so be forewarned. Thank you to Nurse Cherie @Pierson clinic who turned us on to this place! It will be our new Thursday lunch hangout when we're on the East side from now on!
